The International Museum of Surgical Science is located in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood. The museum was founded in 1954 and showcases Eastern and Western medical practices. Featured exhibits include "Surgicogenomics: Genes and Stem Cells in Surgery," "Street Anatomy," "OUR BODY: The Universe Within," "Beyond Broken Bones," the Japan Hall of Fame, "Milestones in Medical Imaging: From X-Ray to Nuclear Medicine," "Supporting Structure: Understanding the Spine and Spinal Surgery," Turn of the Century Apothecary Shop, and the Polio Exhibit.
